1 Timothy 4

Snippets from 1 Timothy

1 Timothy is a sound doctrinal letter written by Paul approximately 62 A.D. to Timothy his son and protege in the faith. Paul provides Pastor Timothy leadership instructions and guidelines for the challenges that he is facing with his church in Ephesus. His letter is two-fold, charging Timothy to teach the foundations of Christianity and to beware of false teachers who had cropped up in the early church. Secondly, emphasize correct beliefs and godliness to his congregation, so that they do not make a mess of their faith because they didn’t listen to their consciences. Paul encourages Timothy, “Fight a good fight for the faith and claim eternal life. God offered it to him when he told about his faith, while so many people listened.” -1 Timothy 6:12
