1 Thessalonians 5

Snippets from 1 Thessalonians

Paul founded the Thessalonica church on his second missionary journey, together with Silas and Timothy in Acts 17. He writes one of his earliest letters to them around the early 50’s AD, teaching on the second coming of Christ, apparently a concern for the Thessalonian believers. Paul explains to them how Jesus will return, never giving them an exact date or time. In the meantime, before the return of Christ, Paul encourages them to live out their Christian lives because of Jesus’ coming return. For the Lord himself will appear with the declaration of victory, the shout of an archangel, and the trumpet blast of God. He will descend from the heavenly realm and command those who are dead in Christ to rise first. —1 Thessalonians 4:16
