We made our prayer to our God, and because of them we set a watch against them day and night.

—Nehemiah 4:9

Scriptures speak of  “watches,” which covers different spans of time throughout any given day. The biblical term for watch is "shamar" meaning to see, to keep, guard, keep watch and ward, protect, wait for, and to retain.

Everyone has a prayer "shamar" watch, even though they may not be aware of it. This is why we may find ourselves compelled to pray unawaringly or sense a mood shift at specific times during the morning, midday or evening. During those times the Holy Spirit is in need of "you" to partner with Him and stand in the gap and strategically intercede for what He impresses upon your spirit. You are needed to disrupt and dismantle the diabolical plans of the enemy and to assist in opening up the gates and portals for the great things of God to legally take place in the earth.

All eight watches are for the purpose of saturating the earth and all of creation with God's glory. We need the Holy Spirit and God's Angels to help us and the Holy Spirit and God's Angels need us to arise early on our watches to decree and strategically cover our earthly basis from our Heavenly Headquarters.

Nothing happens in the earth and to creation until words are spoken...

It is our responsibility as Ambassadors for Christ to uphold the highest standards of righteousness from the Kingdom of God on our watches. We are God's personal representatives in the earth to pray and decree His Word over ourselves, families and marriages in the earth, our cities, governments, nations and the atmosphere.

Actively flowing with the Holy Spirit and staying in tune with others on our watches shifts the atmosphere and situations around us. Now that we are up on our watch, now what? The whole creation waits breathless with anticipation for the revelation of God’s sons and daughters.
