Friends and Families

Friends love through all kinds of weather, and families stick together in all kinds of trouble.
— Proverbs 17:17

You have heard the quote, " You can't live with them, can't live without them." It is true to some degree with our friends and families. True friends love through all kinds of situations that each of them face. Families love the same way too, no matter what, they stick together in all kinds of trouble. I am sure that you like me, have made many sacrifices for our friends and families as they have done also for us.

Solomon the author of Proverbs offers us his wisdom for practical living in our daily lives. As I have mentioned many times on my Shift Today broadcast that a Proverbs a day keeps the foolishness away and makes you and I wise. It is not a coincidence that there is a Proverbs to read for each day of the month.

Today's complete Proverbs that I read is good even the one written in Proverbs 17:6 that states, "Old people are distinguished by grandchildren; children take pride in their parents." I liked the children taking pride in their parents, but I wasn't too fond of being in the "old people" group. Especially, now that I am a Glamma to my granddaughter and grandson.

I’m just joking. Okay back to our friends and family...

Let’s be intentional by loving them dearly and sticking together with them. One of the things that I love about Jesus is that He knows what love is and He demonstrated it by laying His life down for us. What a great reminder for you and I to lay down our lives for our friends and families, though at times it may be difficult, it is worth it.

Remember we want to leave legacies of our demonstrations of love. We can do all things through Christ Jesus who gives us His strength because He is inside of us. If it were not possible Jesus would not have loved each of us through all kinds of weather and in all kinds of trouble. I don't know about you but I was a mess and I am so thankful that He loved me back then and now. Get creative today, ask the Holy Spirit to help you love your friends and family members.

Decree It:  Love is a choice.  I choose today to love my family by sticking together with them in all kinds of trouble and love my friends through all kinds of weather. The love of God is shed abroad in my heart by the Holy Spirit who makes loving others possible. God so loved me when I was afar off and I will in turn demonstrate my love for God by loving my family and friends the same.
