Keep the Law of Love

What actually took place is this: I tried keeping rules and working my head off to please God, and it didn’t work. So I quit being a “law man” so that I could be God’s man.
— Galatians 2:19

Keeping all the rules and laws of God is hard work. A work that none of us could ever successfully achieve. Thank God that Jesus came not come to get rid of the law of Moses or the writings of the all the prophets. No, He came to accomplish their purpose and what the law was originally intended to do.

The law was given to us to demonstrate the love of God. God is Love! And as we keep the love of God within us and follow Love’s precepts we have no need to concern ourselves with keeping the whole law.

The whole law…

The burden of keeping the whole law is way too heavy for anyone to carry, this is why God had carry the weight of the law through the cross of Jesus.

Imagine for a moment being an Israelite. Try attempting to keep over 600 plus written rules every single day and not stumble, and if you missed one little point you were considered doomed—guilty of breaking all them.

No way, I am out! Give me Jesus. Give me Love. Jesus is Love and I would rather keep the law of love which was the only law that He brought from our home—heaven. When we follow Love and not the law we too like Jesus have fulfilled all the laws.

Galatians 5:14 tells us that the entire Law is fulfilled in a single decree: "Love your neighbor as yourself." Make this your single decree today to love your neighbor as yourself. And if you are struggling to receive the love of God so that you can love yourself properly, ask the the Holy Spirit to help you.

Decree It: Today I choose to keep the law love by loving others with the same love that I have received from God. My rule keeping days are over! I follow Love.
