When Jesus Christ our first love returns again will He still be remembered by you? Or will you have walked off and forgotten all about Him and taken in other lovers into your heart to fill those empty places in your soul with pleasures that temporarily satisfy?
I may be dating myself as an old soul, but as I am writing today's Devos, I couldn't help but think of Mary Well's song "Two Lovers." She went on explaining how she had two lovers and she wasn't ashamed.
One lover left her feeling some kind of way. She described him as being sweet and kind and was all hers. This man loved her so well that she wanted to love him back in return and do everything she could to let him know how she felt.
Now the other lover, oh, my! He mistreated her, he made her sad and made her cry. Ok, Mary get a grip here lady. Clearly, you have never attended any of our women's gatherings where we are transforming women for good through the power of God's Word, love, and Spirit. What I am reading into about Mary is that she has apparently forgotten her dear first love.
Don't judge her too quickly though... Have you?
If you haven't abandoned your first love, I want to encourage you to keep enjoying your relationship. But for those who may be struggling today, I also want to encourage your heart by writing to remind you that it's never too late to turn back and recover your relationship and love for Jesus.
Jesus is praying for your heart right now at this moment. How will you respond back to Him? Let the Holy Spirit lead you. He's waiting and fighting for you. You will never lose out on anything and recovering everything with the Lord.
Decree It: Today, I am willing to return my heart where it belongs in the hands of my Lord Jesus. Holy Spirit I surrender my heart to You again. Forgive me for walking away from You and replacing You with other lovers that left me sad and unfulfilled. Have your way in me in Jesus' name.
