An Extravagant Love Like That

Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with him and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn’t love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that.

God loves you extravagantly!

And the only way that each of us can love ourselves and others properly as God does is to keep company often with Him and learn the rhythms and life of love. Ephesians 5:1 literally tells us in The Message, "Watch what God does, and then you do it, like children who learn proper behavior from their parents." In other words, we are to be imitators of our Heavenly Father who is Love and demonstrates His love lavishly and extravagantly.

The definition of extravagant means wandering beyond limits; excessive; irregular; not within the ordinary limits of truth or probability. Imagine loving God, yourself and others with a love like that.

It really is true...

You can't give away what you don't possess for yourself. Before you attempt to love others throughout the day in your own strength, receive God's love right now at this moment. His love looks like forgiveness and can be experienced today for yourself and others. His love looks like grace and mercy. Remember God's grace is getting what you don't deserve and His mercy is not getting what you do deserve. Enjoy them both today!
