I really enjoy reading and receiving instructions from The Message Bible. Another version of this verse states that the wise in heart accept commands, but a chattering fool comes to ruin.
Selah... Think about that.
When you and I accept or receive God's instructions He considers us wise. God does not want us to become unglued and confused, nor is He trying to be a killjoy. He wants His children to receive His instructions, so that He can bless us, protect us and point us in the right direction.
His commands at times may appear to be difficult for us to live out because there is a war going on between our flesh and our spirit, but they are not burdensome or oppressive. Scripture tells us that our flesh is weak, but our spirits are always ready to come up strong by pleasing God.
As you and I accept God's commands we are joyfully expressing our love for Him. 1 John 5:3 from the Amplified Bible tells us, “For the [true] love of God is this: that we habitually keep His commandments and remain focused on His precepts. And His commandments and His precepts are not difficult [to obey].”
Did you catch that?
God's precepts are not difficult to obey. Take a moment right now and ask yourself do you love God? Really consider your response. For the scripture above clearly informs us that the true love of God is that we habitually keep His commandments.
This is not the time to be condemned, but rather the time and hour to recommit your heart to God, love on Him and receive His love like never before and accept His commands. The Holy Spirit is right there to help you truly love, be loved and receive His instructions.
Decree It: I love God. I am wise because I accept His commands when He speaks to me. I hear my Father's voice and the voice of a stranger I will not follow. I refuse to become unglued. I am stuck on God's word.
