Get Rid of Human Reasoning

Elijah challenged the people: “How long are you going to sit on the fence? If God is the real God, follow him; if it’s Baal, follow him. Make up your minds!” Nobody said a word; nobody made a move.
— 1 Kings 18:21

Human reasoning is a big enemy to our faith. Have you ever tried to make a sound decision with an unsober mind?  I have on many occasions. There are many sources that can lead each of us to human reasoning in our souls such as fear, philosophies, traditions of man, our ideas, and the opinions of others.

God wants us to reason from a solid source that comes from His Word alone. This is why hearing the Word of God is so important because it promotes faith. Our hope is built on Christ alone. Christ is our Cornerstone and our antidote to human reasoning.

The Bible knows how to interpret itself.  In order to navigate properly in our lives and have the answers to the challenges that we face, we must seek first God's Word. God built and set up His Kingdom by His Word. He has magnified and honored His Word even above His name. And Jesus Christ is His first, last and final Word.

The Greek word diakrino is an action word meaning to discern, hesitate, doubt, to go thoroughly back and forth, going too far in judgment and vacillating between two opinions. This mindset isn't the place to make any decision for God or ourselves. We are called to make decisions from the mind that God has given us, a sound and sober mind and to rid ourselves of warped philosophies and barriers that have been erected against the truth of God.

Even Elijah reminds us in 1 Kings 18:21 to stop hesitating between two opinions and get off the fence by making up our minds and following God. So let's get going this week and make a decision and get rid of human reasoning that is an enemy to our faith.

Decree It: I don't have a spirit of fear. I have a spirit of power, love and a sound mind. I decide with my sound mind to build my hopes, aspirations, and life on Christ alone. I choose to follow God and be established by His Word and promises to me.
