My child, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body.

Just Us Summer Soul Moments

By Nina Roach

This summer is a great opportunity while you are splashing at pool parties to also take a few moments to soak your soul. Your soul’s composition includes your “mind, will, emotions, intellect and imagination.” You may not realize it but the soul has been wounded by traumatic experiences whether they were yours personally or others. Nevertheless over the “past” few days, weeks, months, and even years you have endured a lot of struggles that have impacted your emotional, physical, and spiritual progression and well-being.

You are fearfully and wonderfully made. God created all parts of your spirit, soul, and body. He never created your struggle, pain, the sadness in your soul, and hardships. He will bring comfort to those places in your soul as you let Him. God built you to last and weather the storms in life, not sit, soak, and drench in them. If you make the time to come and have a seat, Jesus will be waiting to share His thoughts with you concerning the matters of your soul.

You will leave your moments from being in His presence awakened, refreshed, renewed, confident, lighthearted with some days teary-eyed and overjoyed, and yet other days just reflecting on the sweet encounters that you experienced.

“Just Us” Summer Soul Moments was created just for you. So, let’s get going. You may want to dress light, come with an open heart, grab your ice tea, lemonade or cold water, journal or note-taking apps to jot your moments, and enjoy your summer journey soul moments.

Truth Be Told: Proverbs 4:20-21 starts with securing your relationship, “My child.” How loving and mindful of God to call you His own. He desires to be your Father in spite of the things that you have done. In the scripture above you are being invited to new shared experiences that will create a deeper level of trust and mutual enjoyment. To maximize your experiences this summer, turning your ears to the Words of the God your Creator and Father, Jesus your Lord, Shepherd, and Redeemer, and the Holy Spirit your Comforter, Teacher, Revealer, Healer, and Sustainer will be the key. They will speaking soothing words to your spirit that you will be able to receive and relay to your soul and body.

Your Invitation Today: Let’s go to the beach today and engage the soul’s mind, will, emotions, imagination, and intellect and create some new shared experiences while you are there.

Wow! Look at your view.

Feel your feet treading through the sand and the warm sand is falling between the cracks of your toes. You might want to take off your flip-flops if you haven’t already. What do you see? What do you hear? What scent do you smell in the air?

Imagine: Use your soul to imagine again. You may have forgotten to imagine such a different kind of day. Leave the baggage packed with problems behind for these few moments.

Can you see the waters moving slowly? Hear the seagulls squawking nearby?

Take a Seat: The chair on the right is yours. Jesus is sitting there already and is glad to see you. You were so excited by your surroundings that you didn’t notice Him at first. It’s okay. He was watching you view the beauty of your surroundings that His Father created for you to enjoy.

Relax. Just be in this moment. No pretense! At times it has been hard to just sit. You hid so much behind ”looking and keeping busy.” Jesus understands and that is why He is just so excited to have you there in His presence doing nothing. He’s aware that you haven’t been “really” connecting with others though you think that you have and even has noted that you were there at other times but no one noticed you. He is welcoming you with open arms.

Jesus is tapping on the chair, beckoning for you to sit next to Him as He sees that you are still hesitant. Take a chance and have a seat. What risk do you have to take? It’s Jesus, right? He is placing His hand on your left hand. He has no agenda to reprimand you or discuss what is happening with you lately in this moment. This moment is reserved and so special as you both look out towards the calmness of the water.

Inside you may be thinking Jesus I don’t deserve to be here because of all I haven’t done, guilt may be running through your veins and shame flushing your sun-kissed tan. Nevertheless, Jesus is saying nothing regarding your thoughts because they aren’t His thought towards you. His thoughts toward you are precious and good and outnumber the grains of sand there. Embrace His love towards you in your soul in this moment. Take a peek out of your left eye, Jesus is smiling.

Look down at His hand holding yours. The hand that is holding you came from the Heavenly Father and sculptured you in your mother’s womb. This hand has never ever abused you or pointed an accusing finger at you. This hand was pierced for your sins.

See the hole in Jesus’ hand there…

Squeeze His hand and look up in His eyes.

Share Your Heart: Jesus thank you! Pour out your soul to Him in this moment for whatever you want to say to Him. He is listening intently.

Listen for Jesus: Listen for Jesus’ response too to you. He will respond in many different ways. A song may come to your heart, join Him in singing. A dance may arise, stand up to dance with Him. Poetic words may just flow, jot them down.

Enjoy this shared soul experience. You can leave now or stay in this moment if you choose. Keep coming back as often as you like. This is a great place.
