Seek First the Kingdom of God
Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” One of the most important ways to connect with God and give His Word priority in your life is to seek the Kingdom of God. Jesus came to bring you the Kingdom of God not more religion and traditions of man.
God had and still does have so many great plans for you and thoughts about you that He couldn’t contain it for Himself. Almighty God wrote a personal message Himself to you because He loves you! The book of the Bible contains God’s inspired Word. The Word of God is meant to be a down-to-earth, applicable hands-on book of life about God, His Kingdom and how to live and share your life with others and function in your everyday life affairs for good.
Don’t for a moment think that this is another book of do’s and don’t. The Word of God is the key to your life, it is a regulator to keep your life in order and keep you from harm’s way. Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power…”
Therefore, if you want to transform your life for good and grow spiritually, then it would be to your advantage to develop the habit of reading and studying your Bible on a regular basis, and letting that Word dwell in you richly as you take hold of what God is speaking to you. Colossians 3:16
Make God’s Word First
1. Pray to God to give you first a desire to commit to putting His Word first.
2. Be intentional by setting aside a regular appointment time of reading the Bible daily – even if at first it’s only bite size portions such as one chapter or a few verses. Then, once you develop your routine and your desire grows for reading the Word of God, you will notice that you have gradually increased your daily intake.
3. It’s important to read all 66 books which consist of the Old and New Testament because the New Testament is built upon the foundation of the Old Testament. A man named Augustine once said: “The Old Testament is the New Testament concealed. The New Testament is the Old Testament revealed”. The promises and prophecies of the Old Testament are fulfilled in the New Testament by Jesus Christ. For the “Church” or “Christians”, the New Testament was written with better promises than the Old Testament teaching and instructing you how you can live victoriously today. Hebrews 8:13 Matthew 5:17
4. Before Jesus departed the earth He made sure that you would be left in good care. He left you in the care of the Holy Spirit, who is an Advocate for you, Helper, Teacher, Reminder, Comforter, Shepherd and all the divine attributes associated to the Father and the Son are equally associated with the Holy Spirit.  Since you have the Holy Spirit ask Him to help you as you are putting God’s Word first.
